POSITION: Graphic Designer
REPORTS TO: Production Manager
NAME: Ron Demone
Position Summary:
Provides quality and timely graphic designs for newspaper and other printing projects.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Designs creative ads for newspaper based on information received from Sales department
2. Design creative brochures and commercial printing for clients according to their requirements
3. Ensures that files that have been produced and created externally and sent in for printing meets the prepress internal requirements
4. Keeps up to date with technology and various software updates
5. Liases with clients either directly or indirectly on various printing projects to ensure the project is completed timely and meets customer specifications
6. Ensures that all predetermined guidelines are adhered to regarding layout in newspaper
Position Requirements:
• A 2 year diploma from community college in graphic design
• Minimum of 2 years of related experience in graphic design
Decision Making:
• Determines what creative can be used in various situations
• Recommends upgrades to hardware and software
• Determines how to translate customer files to the software required at LHP for printing
Responsibility for Work of Others:
There are no positions that report to this position
Communications:
Internal:
• Sales staff regarding consultation on graphics and layout of projects
• Production Manager to discuss client requirements and printing projects
External:
• Clients regarding consultation on printing requirements
• Various external printers to exchange information regarding printing projects
Effort:
• Minimal - sitting at a desk, walking around the building or occasional lifting of a small box up to 25 pounds
Working Conditions:
• Emotionally charged situations due to the constant deadlines in a newspaper environment |
