POSITION: Multi Media Programmer
REPORTS TO: Multi Media Manager
NAME: Carolyn Ekins
Position Summary:
Designs, develops and maintains websites for Lighthouse Publishing Limited.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Extracts various news stories from the newspaper to feature online on the website.
2. Organizes community events, meetings and other listings into a community calendar on the website.
3. Develops company websites by determining the programs and methods to be used.
4. Designs the site by coding the information and making it operational.
5. Encodes video casts for posting and uploads them into the site.
6. Posts ads to the classified section online and cleans up old ads.
Position Requirements:
• A 2 year diploma from community college in graphic, web design or IT
• Minimum of 2 - 4 years of related experience in web design or programming
Decision Making:
• Determines what programs and methods should be used to develop a site in.
• Determines the content that goes into the main site
• Determines what events should be entered into the community calendar
Responsibility for Work of Others:
There are no positions that report directly to this position
Communications:
Internal:
• Manager Multi Media regarding communication and assignments
• Employees regarding the maintenance of website
• Graphic Designers to gain information to update and create information for sites
External:
• Hosting services regarding the maintenance of sites
• IT Professionals to gain insight into problems and determine solutions
Effort:
• Minimal - sitting at a desk, walking around the building or occasional lifting of a small box up to 25 pounds
Working Conditions:
• Emotionally charged situations due to the constant deadlines in a newspaper and website client environment |
