Wells back as Grit party prez COUNTY - Chester lawyer Derek Wells is back as president of Nova Scotia's Liberal party.
The former South Shore MP was acclaimed for a second two-year term following the party's recent annual convention. Mr. Wells, who served as MP for one term in the 1990s, said his experience in his first term as party president was a rewarding one. "We have been through a very successful leadership convention and have done a lot of organizational work at the grassroots level and the party is ready for an election," said the 61 year old. In the past, Mr. Wells has served as president of both the Chester-St. Margarets and South Shore St. Margarets Liberal associations. He's also been active in many other community organizations. "I look forward to continuing to work with our thousands of volunteers, our party executive, caucus and leader Stephen McNeil," Mr. Wells added.
