St. Martin's church to host dinner theatre The parish of St. Martin's is presenting "The Homecoming," a musical dinner theatre production opening in early November.
The show, written by Heather D. Veinotte, is a fundraiser for the parish. "We wanted to do something special, something that identifies with the local area," says parishoner Carolyn Wells. "It's a comedy that's been put to music." The landscape, the people, the famed Oak Island, all are tied together in the two-hour event. The show opens November 6 at the Western Shore fire hall. A second show is scheduled at the hall for November 7. A third show is scheduled for the Martin's River fire hall on November 13. All shows are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. "We have some very talented people involved," Ms Wells says. "And the music you'll hear is about or from Nova Scotia." Some of it is even local, such as the song written about Oak Island by Derwin Swinemar's father. "This show is all about us," says Ms Wells. "It's about the people of the area, our scenery and our history. Those are our real treasures." posted on 10/27/09 |
