The popular Spinney Brothers bluegrass band will be returning to Bridgewater on April 11 at the Park View Education Centre.
The Spinney Brothers will be in concert and releasing their latest CD, "Side by Side." Allan and Rick Spinney, who call Wolfville home, have been at the forefront of the Atlantic Canadian bluegrass scene for well over a decade. Along with bandmates Gary Dalrymple and Terry Mumford, the Spinneys are one of the busiest bluegrass bands in all of Canada. The Spinneys keep a very active touring schedule. They have taken their music all across Canada as well as extensively throughout the United States. Recent tours have seen them travel to Ontario, Quebec, Missouri, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, Arizona, New York and Texas. The Spinneys are currently on tour promoting their newly released CD. The Spinneys have acquired not only a reputation of being prolific recording artists, but are also becoming known for their high quality of recorded music. Their stellar performances captured the attention of Nashville musician and engineer, Ron Stewart. Mr. Stewart has recorded and produced the Spinneys' last three recordings, all winning the Eastern Canadian recording of the year. "Side by Side" is a collection of traditional and original bluegrass along with some classic country music. The Spinney Brothers have garnished an industry reputation of being top-notch professionals. Attention to detail has brought an impressive list of performance opportunities. They have shared the stage with county-music star Ricky Skaggs, the Grammy-nominated Cherryholms and Grand Ole Opry-legend Del McCoury. The Spinneys were recognized for all their hard work this past October at the Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Awards show in Truro. The Spinneys took home five awards including Male Vocalist of the Year (Allan Spinney), Guitar Player of the Year (Allan Spinney), Gospel Performance of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year and Bass Player of the Year (Terry Mumford). The most recent honour that has been bestowed upon the Spinney Brothers is their selection as the newest members of the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame. The Spinneys will be inducted this coming September and their name will hang alongside such greats as Anne Murray, Wilf Carter and Hank Snow. advertisement For more information on the Spinney Brothers bluegrass band, visit visit http://www.spinneybrothers.com. posted on 03/30/10 |
