Kids of Steel coming soon The eighth annual South Shore Kids of Steel triathlon is scheduled for July 1 in and around the Bridgewater outdoor pool.
Part of a national program designed to encourage healthy, active living in children ages three to 15, it includes swimming, biking and running segments with an emphasis on fun, non-competitive participation over short distances appropriate for each age group. The event also includes a team relay, so boys and girls may join up with their friends and participate in the portion of the event that they are most comfortable with. There are lots of great prizes, thanks to tremendous community support, including a random draw for a brand new bicycle. Afterwards there will be food for all the participants. Activities begin at 8:45 a.m. on July 1, although participants should arrive around 7:45 for a pre-event check-in. Registration is accepted at the Bridgewater Parks and Recreation office at 60 Pleasant Street and additional information is available on-line at http://www.bridgewatertriclub.com/kos. Anyone who registers by June 4 is eligible to receive a T-shirt. posted on 06/01/10 |
