Students offered entrepreneur program BRIDGEWATER - The Nova Scotia Community College - Lunenburg Campus will introduce an entrepreneurial program offering students a chance to explore what it takes to open a business.
The program called Your Entrepreneurial Self will be offered to students at the local campus this September. "We're looking at both social enterprises, innovative ideas and actual entrepreneurship and creating your own job," Cam Seamone, part of the local campus business faculty, told an annual meeting of Bridgewater business leaders. Mr. Seamone said he hopes a student club forms and gives participants a shot at competing in local contests with a chance to go on to nationals. He also wants to start a guest speaker series and take advantage of the college's high-tech equipment to showcase the talks at other campus locations. "We can share what you have to say with people in Yarmouth and Sydney and Halifax and on the waterfront campus," Mr. Seamone said. There's also a room at the campus set up as an office for students to run. Officials from the local campus introduced the program to the business community in May. They've asked the chamber to take an active role in the program by offering, for example, mentorship to students. posted on 07/06/10 |
