Impaired drivers fined


 Blowing breathalyser readings of 130 and 120 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood after stopping at a checkpoint will cost a Barss Corner man $1,150 and his licence for a year. George Edward Greek, 64, pleaded guilty to a charge of failing the breathalyser September 1. He was stopped August 28 in Franey Corner.

 A New Germany man was fined $1,150 on a breathalyser charge plus an additional $575 for breaching probation September 1. Vernon Lionel Bent, 46, was on a 2009 probation order out of Quebec when he was pulled over in Bridgewater on March 20. Mr. Bent showed signs of impairment and later blew two breathalyser readings of 130 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. He lost his licence for a year.
