  I too find the commercials too loud and for this reason, I rarely watch TV. A few quick words or pictures would be just as effective. As for the background music, it is picked up by hearing aids and the spoken words become more like the background.

 I wonder why so much background music is necessary. You even get it over the phone when making an important call to a business, bank, etc.
