SHAID Tree Animal Shelter

Kittens, kittens and more kittens

Upwards of 15 little kittens are waiting at the shelter in hopes that someone will love them. Many, many more are on the waiting list. As usual there are far more kittens than homes. People who love animals have all their animals spayed or neutered. Please care enough not to add to an already impossible situation. Even if your cat, or the stray you have taken in, is already pregnant it can be spayed. Pregnant spays have become common in the last few years. Some people have actually suggested that spaying a pregnant cat is cruel. They are very short-sighted. The cruel thing is the hundreds of thousands of homeless cats in Canada.

Our beagles have been placed, as have our three puppies. Don't let anyone tell you that it is impossible to find a pup at a shelter.

The six rats we saved from the 30 some brought to the shelter are still waiting patiently for responsible homes. Rats are great pets. The unfortunate part of owning a rat is that they only live approximately two years.

We have two nice Rottie-mix girls and a lovely old husky. Two of the three yellow Lab types SHAID has for adoption are apparent purebreds. Lucy is a new arrival. She is a nice girl, a setter mix, and is only about one year old. We also have a good-looking, black collie-type male.
