Traffic tie-ups expected on Bridgewater's west side

BRIDGEWATER - Expect about six weeks worth of traffic disruptions in the vicinity of the downtown core.

It started August 30, with upgrades at the intersection of King Street and Dufferin Street and then, starting September 13, a section of Dufferin Street between King Street and Alexandra Avenue will be the subject of more work.

"The street closure is necessary to facilitate infrastructure upgrades," the town explains on its website.

Between both projects, the work will continue through to about mid-October. Work will happen daily between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

"Local traffic will be permitted," the notice reads. "Every effort will be made to permit traffic to flow through the construction site; however, there may be times where detours around the site will be necessary.

"Motorists are advised to use an alternate route."

Routinely scheduled solid-waste pick-up will continue.

"The Town of Bridgewater and the public service commission of Bridgewater apologize for any disruptions and appreciate your patience and co-operation during these important upgrades," adds the notice.

The public is invited to contact Bridgewater's engineering department for more information or to ask questions.
