Riverport duathlon to wrap up race series The fifth annual Riverport Duathlon will wrap up this year's Nova Scotia triathlon race series on October 3.
"It's a great way to end the 2010 season," said a Bridgewater Triathlon Club press release. "If you are new to run-bike-run races, check out the Do-a-Du. It starts with a one-kilometre run, followed by a 14-kilometre bike and concludes with another one-kilometre run. If you've been looking for a new challenge, the Do-a-Du is a good choice. "Anyone 12 and over can participate and they should come equipped with running shoes, a good working bicycle - a mountain bike will work - and a CSA-approved helmet. As safety is a key consideration, the race course is well marked and manned with lots of helpful volunteers." The main event is a four-kilometre run, followed by a 28-kilometre bike ride and another four-kilometre run. "You can do the entire race yourself or sign up as a team with members tackling each piece of the race." Atlantic Chip will provide the timing and results, and the first 100 registered entrants will receive a T-shirt. "And everyone gets our renowned 'chili 'n' crumble' post-race meal and a chance to win one of the many prizes." Anyone who would like pre-race assistance may register with the Lunenburg municipal recreation department for a two-hour session called "Preparing for My First Duathlon" at the Riverport school on September 11.
