Girlfriend facing assault chargesNew Year's Eve stabbing sends man to hospitalby Lisa Brown BRIDGEWATER - A man was rushed to hospital and a woman is facing charges after a New Year's Eve stabbing in Bridgewater.
Deputy Chief John Collyer said police responded to a 911 call from a home on Ron Street just after 1 a.m. A 24-year-old man was taken to South Shore Regional Hospital after he was stabbed twice, once in the back of the head and once in the neck. He was later transferred by ambulance to the QEII where he underwent surgery on New Year's Day. He remained in critical condition later that day, but by Tuesday morning had been upgraded to serious but stable. Officers arrested a 20-year-old woman at the scene. She has been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon and was released on conditions to appear in Bridgewater provincial court on January 12. Police are continuing the investigation. "It appears to be a domestic," Deputy Chief Collyer said, adding that the couple had been living together for some time. "There was some alcohol involved, but, no, it wasn't the major factor," the deputy chief said. Police did not release any names. posted on 01/04/11 |
