You be the judge. Below is a list, in no particular order, of 10 of our most decorated athletes from the past year. Brett Fraser - In February, the 16 year old won the 54-kg title at the Canadian youth and junior boxing championships. The Oakhill resident also will represent Nova Scotia at next month's Canada Games in Halifax. Whitney Lohnes - The Bridgewater resident earned gold at the Canadian junior judo championships and a bronze at the Pan Am games, while also qualifying for the world juniors. Amy Peveril - A Lapland native, Ms Peveril helped the 2009-10 Mount Saint Vincent University women's basketball team go 23-0 in the regular season and win a silver medal at nationals. The Park View Education Centre graduate was also named to the Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association all-star team and was a second-team all-star at nationals, where she registered four blocks and a team-high 14 points in the final. Mattias Wolter - The top junior steeplechaser in Canada was named male individual athlete of the year at Sport Nova Scotia's annual awards ceremony in Halifax on June 5 and represented Canada at both the 2010 world junior athletic and cross-country championships. The Conquerall Mills resident is currently attending the University of Louisville. Jesse Drennan - A Park View Education Centre student, Mr. Drennan capped a gruelling two days and eight events with a personal-best time in the 1,000-metre race to clinch a silver medal in the octathlon at the 2010 Legion Canadian Youth Track and Field Championships after placing first in five of his eight events at the provincial championships. Alex Duckworth - The 2007 Canada Games gold medallist narrowly missed the final berth on the Canadian women's snowboarding team for the Vancouver Olympics, but rebounded with her first-ever World Cup podium finish in a slopestyle event in Calgary on January 30. In June, the Kingsburg native was nominated as Sport Nova Scotia's female individual athlete of the year. Alex Legge - This medical student from Oakland earned the highest honour in Atlantic University Sport, the James Bayer Memorial Scholarship award for excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, sportsmanship and citizenship. The former AUS women's basketball rookie of the year was also selected as one of the top eight academic all-Canadians in 2009-10 by Canadian Interuniversity Sport. Rachael McIntosh - The Park View Education Centre graduate spent her freshman year at the University of Pittsburgh in 2009-10, where she earned All-Big East honours in the heptathlon and ranked top-25 in the regional poll during the outdoor season, then earned a spot on Team Canada for the World Junior Athletic Championships in July. The former Canada Games medallist is currently training at the University of Calgary with Les Gramantik, who helped coach Jessica Zelinka to a top-five finish at the Beijing Olympics. advertisement Brogan Bailey - In 2009-10, the Lunenburg native finished second in the Maritime Junior A Hockey League with 35 goals, then was named most valuable player of the playoffs after leading the Woodstock Slammers to the league title. He was later recruited to play for Nipissing University. Cheryl Meisner - The Blandford native and John Risley's 13-year-old Dutch warmblood stallion Paganini qualified for February's World Dressage Masters.
