Fire leaves family homeless COUNTY - Two people escaped a burning home near New Ross just three days before Christmas.
Fire broke out at a Clearwater Drive mobile home in New Russell around 4 a.m., December 22, prompting fire departments from New Ross, Chester Basin and around the Valley to respond. New Ross Fire Chief Scott Reeves told Magic 94.9 radio news the uninsured home is completely destroyed. A pet dog died in the fire.
