Police issue warning about scam COUNTY - The RCMP issued a warning last week about an employment scam which has turned up on the internet.
According to police, a company using the name Mercury Ink-Mercury Radio Arts is posting jobs on Kijiji indicating that it is looking for people to do customer service work from their homes by answering phones. After applying for the job, people receive an e-mail advising that a money order has been sent to the worker's home address. The person is asked to spend $50 from the order, fill out a customer service questionnaire and send the remainder of the money back to the company via Western Union. Mounties say the whole thing is a scam and are warning people not to involve themselves. posted on 01/18/12 |
