Clippers remain undefeated on the season

by Adam Jacobs

The Chester Clippers' bid for an undefeated regular season is still in tact.

With a pair of victories over the weekend the Clippers extend their season record to 24-0. They increased their lead over second-place Spryfield to 20 points with an 8-1 victory over the Silver and Black Attack at home on January 22.

In the win captain Corey Young led the team with a hat trick, adding one assist, while linemate Brandon Snow had a goal and three assists. Kyle Dilosa also added four points with two goals and two assists.

The previous night, January 21, the Clippers downed the Avon River Rats 9-3 in another home game.

Once again it was the line of Mr. Young, Mr. Snow and Mr. Dilosa that did the damage as the trio combined for seven of the nine goals scored. Mr. Young and Mr. Snow each scored two goals and four assists on the night while Mr. Dilosa had three goals and three assists.

The Clippers have officially wrapped up the number 1 seed in the regular season with four games to go before the playoffs.

As a measure of their season dominance, Chester has scored 224 goals on the season, 120 more than the second-highest-scoring club. Defensively the club has allowed 49 fewer goals than the next best club. The Clippers' defence has allowed just 34 goals on the season.

In another measure of dominance, the Clippers have four of the league's top five scorers this season.

Mr. Dilosa is the league leader in points with 77 and Mr. Snow the leader in goals with 38.
