Police mum on autopsy results

Police now say it will be Thursday afternoon until they reveal whether the body found on the bank of the LaHave River Saturday morning is that of Karissa Boudreau, the Bridgewater girl missing since January 27.

An autopsy was conducted Wednesday in Halifax, but police will not discuss the results. They plan to brief the media at 1 p.m. Thursday.

While rumours have run rampant around Bridgewater in the past few days, RCMP spokesman Cst. Grant Webber said late Wednesday afternoon that investigators have made no arrests in the case and had no suspects detained for questioning at that time.

“Not that I’m aware of,” he said.

There have been no signs of the missing 12 year old from the time she disappeared from the Bridgewater Mall parking lot on January 27. Then on February 9, a passerby discovered human remains just outside Bridgewater town limits in Conquerall Bank. The body was down over a bank above the river behind the old Irving Oil parking lot.

Police refused to say if it was Karissa, but indicated the body was that of a young white female.
