Still no sign of missing girlposted on 01/31/08Bridgewater Police took their search for a missing 12-year-old girl to the air Thursday morning with the assistance of a Natural Resources helicopter. Two officers scoured the banks of the LaHave River and wooded areas surrounding the town looking for Karissa Paige Boudreau. The Grade 6 student from Bridgewater Elementary has been missing since Sunday evening. She was waiting in the Bridgewater Mall parking lot while her mother went into Sobeys to pick up a few items around 5:30 p.m. When Penny Boudreau returned, Karissa was gone. The pair had argued that afternoon and Karissa was reportedly upset, but her disappearance has mystified her family and police. Her mother issued a public plea for Karissa to return Tuesday afternoon. That evening, Lunenburg County Ground Search and Rescue scoured an area in Hebbville after police received a tip from the public. Sgt. John Collyer refused to provide details of that tip, but said the search turned up nothing useful. Police have also reviewed video surveillance from businesses around the mall, but Sgt. Collyer said that has failed to provide any help. He reiterated Thursday that investigators have no reason to suspect foul play and he refused to speculate about Karissa’s whereabouts. “We don’t have anything that points to it being anything nefarious. We don’t have anything that points to it being anything other than she went poof and she’s gone. It’s making it very difficult, but we’re looking at it from all different angles,” Sgt. Collyer said. If anyone knows Karissa Boudreau’s whereabouts, they are asked to call the Bridgewater Police at 543-2464. <- go back to SouthShoreNow.ca |
