Suspects being releasedposted on 02/15/08Police now say they plan to release two suspects arrested for questioning in the death of Karissa Boudreau without laying charges. Authorities announced early Friday morning that they had arrested two suspects Thursday in connection with the murder of the 12-year-old Bridgewater girl. By 9:30 a.m., Sgt. John Collyer of the Bridgewater Police Service said investigators had completed their questioning and planned to release the two Bridgewater residents. “At this point in time, I don’t believe that charges are anticipated,” Sgt. Collyer said. “Obviously, the investigators, for whatever reason, believed that these individuals may or may not have had some information that was important to this case and they wanted to speak to them,” he added. He said the fact that the two people are being released does not necessarily exonerate them. They could be arrested again in future. “That’s obviously something we’ll deal with as it comes along,” he said. Sgt. Collyer would not identify the pair. He said a third person of interest had been questioned in relation to Karissa’s death and was released Thursday. Police said they also conducted a number of searches in the Bridgewater area Thursday night, but would not elaborate with details. The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information to call the Bridgewater Police Service or Crime Stoppers. <- go back to SouthShoreNow.ca |
