A Dartmouth man wanted for second-degree murder in Antigonish was apprehended in a Lunenburg apartment earlier this week.

RCMP major crime officers and the emergency response team arrested Robert Harris Lamb in the late evening hour of August 4.

Mr. Lamb, 20, was taken into custody without incident, Antigonish RCMP said.

“We found out about Mr. Lamb being in Lunenburg as a result of tips and leads coming into us from the general public, which is very important,” Staff Sgt. Tony Perry said last week. He was with family members in the Lunenburg area.”

Mr. Lamb is accused of stabbing Jonathan Robert Beaton, 25, to death early on New Year’s Day. Police issued a Canada-wide warrant for Mr. Lamb’s arrest in February.

The murder charge is in relation to a fight that occurred during a New Year’s Eve party at a College Street property in Antigonish.

Mr. Beaton died in St. Martha’s  Hospital in Antigonish. Four other people were hurt as a result of the altercations that were said to have spread outside the home.
