Western ShoreOn the west side of Mahone Bay lies the seaside community of Western Shore.A hub of summertime softball activity with plenty of community spirit, Western Shore is known to people around the world not for what sits directly within the community, but rather for what sits adjacent to its shoreline. Connected to the community by a causeway is the famous puzzle that is known simply as Oak Island. The tale of Oak Island began in 1795, when a young man named Dan McGinnis stumbled upon a depression in the ground on the island. Closer inspection revealed suspicious implements, including a block and tackle, and McGinnis became convinced that something was buried at the site. Ever since that time, treasure hunters from across the globe have fought with Oak Island in a quest to unravel its secrets, finding only minimal success. The island, it seems, has been unwilling to give up any of its treasure, save for the occasional artifact. But, if ye be in Western Shore, in love you'll fall with Oak Island's lore.
