FROM FACEBOOK: My Dad Perry Veinot is in this video; this video/tribute was a 'genius' of an idea. My sons Sullee, Blake, myself, mother Greta, sisters and families were at Empire Theatres on Monday November 2 - it was truly an inspiring day. Every Nova Scotian, every Canadian would be blessed to see these videos/interviews. Well done Tim Reeves-Horton and Dan Hennessey! Thank-you, Maxine Veinot
FROM FACEBOOK: i became a fan not only for the respect i have for all the people who served the war but to also remember and send my blessings to mr albert scott whom i take great pleasure in getting the opportunity to meet and become a part of his family.
FROM FACEBOOK: Mary Nixon is my grandmother, I just watched the video and I think it's fantastic that this video was put together. All the stories are great and I'm thankful to each and everyone of them. Good on ya May!
I had no idea that a mere 13 months ago when the idea for this project came to me that it would grow to such a wonderful community based level. I am foryunate to have such a professional organization such as Ligthouse Media Group as a partner in the endevour. Without their understanding, support and patience this project would never have happened. My goal was to first preserve the memories of our veterans and secondly to share these stories with the youth so they can learn from their experiences. Tim Reeves-Horton was a genius and turned memories into a journey back to a time much different than most of us can imagine. My thanks to Tim for being my better half!
Watched my mom's video for the first time and it really gave me incite on what she went thru during those 4 years that the Germans were bombing England.
Listened to Leonard Hames, Mary Nixon and Doris Joudrey last night.... wow what differing stories. Leonard - well I could have listened to him all night. He has a way of story telling from the heart and at one moment you could see him reliving his memory as if it was juts last week. Doris had a positive memory of the war- she enjoyed being a Land Girl and there was one moment when she described sitting under a tree in a field (she had been picking fruit) when a bombing raid came in. She sat there as the bombs fell around her....being young she just laughed it off- it was her way of coping..
And then Mary Nixon who signed up as soon as she was old enough and after basic training and an intelligence test went to work on identifying aircraft- she struggled at times with older school officers who felt that women should not be working for the war effort within the military..
Fascinating interviews Tim...all the hours (must be nudging 100!) you spent on putting these interviews together is appreciated by all!!!
I was fortunate to have been able to attend a viewing of this remarkable tribute to the veterns of WWll.
What a great job!!! Thank you.
I believe hearing these stories from those who actually served sticks in the minds of the younger generations so much more then just reading text books about war.
And having our own Burt Eagle, WWll vetern, answer questions from the children themselves was just super.
Kudos on a job well done!!!!
I can hardly wait for my daughter to take part in the school program ... this takes the war away from the history book pages and into the hearts and memories of our veterans. Thanks to all of you for sharing - for sharing is where learning truly begins!
I think this is an absolutely great tribute! We should be capturing the stories from all soldiers throughout Canada. It should have been done years ago but better late than never. Great job!!!
Hi I just saw on ATV the video made to remember the veterns and it certainly touched my heart. My dad ,grew up in Bridgewater, Carl Lohnes. I spent a lot of time there and I want you to know how much I appreciate this movie, done by your legion and the book done a few years ago "Through the Gates". My Uncle Warren Raymond Lohnes was a member of this legion and was so proud of this book and I know how pleased he would be of this video. Thank you to the veterns who are willing to discuss the wars and how they feel. I cant even imagine what they have seen in the lives. May God Bless them and our servicemen serving our country now.
Spectacular - what a wonderful tribute!
Amazing indeed!
This is an amazing collection of video interviews- it is quite humbling.
I'll be encouraging my children to take time to watch and listen to these.

I watched your veteran program . know many of those guys . moved to windsor , n. s. 30 yrs ago . i am 69 yrs old , can vividly remember the day the war ended in bwater .,the celebrations that nite . i watched from the west end of the old bridge with my mom n brother .i have a b/wspread picture of the waterfront that a mr garber fotographed in 1936 .i can show exactly where i stood that nite .they erected a large pile of wood on the east bank with a large pole in the middle.during the eve , they dragged hitler out in effigy, tied him to the pole , beat him unmercifully with long poles and set him on fire . bands played , fireworks went off , what a celebration . just thought this was an experience of those who were unable to be over there , and wondered if any others can recall the event . tks , harry .eca58
